BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary distributes land pattas under FRA in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Monday ceremonially distributed land pattas to claimants under Forest Right Act, 2006 at a function held at Bonjar ME School playground. The land pattas were distributed under the Integrated Tribal Development Project.

Mohilary in his speech said the villagers from 28 recognized forest villages under Haltugaon Forest Division were given land pattas under Forest Rights Act, 2006. He said the indigenous tribal people who had been in the forest for over 25 years and non-tribal for over 75 years were eligible for claiming land title. He said after getting land pattas, the villagers would be able to enjoy all the government privileges. Schools, roads, health centres, drinking water and other government schemes would reach the villages, he said, adding that his council would provide all facilities to the villagers. He also said his council would lay stress on skill development so that the unemployed youths could become self-reliant. Besides, the villagers would be provided job card, Kisan Credit Card, free medical card and PMAY houses.

Mohilary said the BPF was not working only for the people of BTC area but also recognized forest villages of other districts of the State.

The land pattas distribution programme was also attended by Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Kokrajhar DC Partha Pratim Mazumder, Project Director of ITDP, Bhaskar Manti, and other dignitaries. Sources from ITDP said 1,410 families of 28 villages were distributed land pattas on the occasion. The villages comprised eight under Dhwrwmpur Gram Sabha and 20 villages under Chandrapur Gram Sabha.

A plantation programme was also held where all guests planted different types of saplings.
