KOKRAJHAR: Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro on Tuesday took the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at RN Brahma Civil Hospital here. He was accompanied by EM of Health Services of BTC, Arup Kr. Dye.

While talking to reporters after taking the vaccine, Boro said that the deadly disease had taken an ugly turn across the country, including Assam as well as BTR. He said that the time had come to join hands to defeat the disease by following all COVID-19 protocol. He called upon all to take the vaccine made available in health centres for the safety of their lives and also asked people to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocol. He also said that everybody should be aware of the deadly disease as responsible citizens and follow guidelines.

On the other hand, the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Bhaskar Phukan said that 81 COVID-19 positive cases had been detected in the district till Monday. He said that the district administration had taken up several precautionary measures to contain the disease and had imposed Rs. 1000 fine on violators of COVID-19 protocol. He called upon all citizens to maintain social distancing, wear masks and to avoid going outdoors without any urgent task.
