TINSUKIA: A Buddhist monk of doubtful nationality allegedly carrying a fake identity card was arrested by Tinsukia police from Buddha temple in College Road Tinsukia on Tuesday night. Identified as Ratanshree Bhikkhu alias Rahul Barua (42), he had been residing in Tinsukia for the past two years. The monk, son of Banga Mitra Barua, claimed to be a resident of Mainama under Chailengta PS of district Dhalai, Tripura. He was accused of not having proper documents. Besides, police also recovered a fake Tripura identity card from his possession. Tinsukia PS registered a case no 738/2022 u/s 120B/ 466/468/471 ,R/W Sec 14 ( A ) ( b ) The Foreigner Act 1946, R / W Sec 3 of Passport ( Entry into India ) Act 1920, R / W Rule 6 of Passport ( Entry into India) Rule 1950 against the monk.
