Buddhist temple completes 100 years

SARUPATHAR: The Buddha Temple of Turung gaon in Uriamghat under Dhansiri subdivision completed 100 years on Saturday.

The 100th-anniversary programme was inaugurated by Bhadanta Bimalankur Mahathir, the head of the Jorhat Toklai Buddha Temple, and the community flag was hosted by Bhadanta Kushla Mahathir, the head of the Rajapukhuri Turung gaon Buddha Temple.

“The significance of this centennial celebration is to let people in Dhansiri subdivision know there has been a diverse religious community here for quite a long time,” said Bhadanta Kushla Mahathir, a native who is now head of the Rajapukhuri Turung gaon Buddha Temple congregations in Uriamghat.
