SILCHAR: Cachar district sets the second highest record for the second day in a row for vaccinating 20,238 people in the district on Wednesday. With this, the Cachar has been able to earn official status of securing second position in the State for administering second maximum number of doses for two consecutive days in the State. Relevant to mention, after Kamrup Metro, Cachar is the second district where maximum people were vaccinated in a single day as the official report came in. On Tuesday, Cachar became the second highest vaccinated district in the State by vaccinating 20,029 people.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 3,44,000 people got vaccinated in a cumulative way. On Monday, the district ranked third in the State in terms of vaccination on Monday. The free vaccination drive of the Centre in coordination with the State will continue to cover all eligible 18 plus people. The district administration and the health department are working together to reach the core message double dose of vaccination is the best protection against COVID-19.

This will also keep people immunised against the possible third wave called Delta plus variant. Besides, as medical experts are of the opinion that two doses of vaccination will make a person 95% safe in case he gets infected by Corona. His inbuilt immunisation can easily make him well protected. This has also been clinically proved. The district administration of Cachar has been carrying out campaign in urban and rural areas involving the MLAs of the 7 constituencies to dispel any misgiving and misconception about getting vaccinated. The response is quite encouraging.
