Case filed against two persons for derogatory comment against SC community in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Sodou Asom Kaibarta Yuva Chatra Sanmilani filed a case against two persons who made derogatory comments against the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.

The case was filed by the Lakhimpur unit president of the organization, Partha Das and secretary Mridul Das against Atul Gogoi of Singia, Ghilamora and Prasen Borgohain of Bhakatiahola, Dhakuakhana at North Lakhimpur Police Station on Saturday. In the FIR, Partha Das and Mridul Das stated that the two persons scolded a youth of the SC community and made a derogatory statement over the mobile phones at 9 pm on February 18. Meanwhile, the audio clip of the incident became viral on social media.

According to the dignitaries of the organization, the derogatory statement impacted badly their native community causing the psychological affliction. They further alleged that the two accused persons had issued the threat of kidnapping the youths of the SC community too. Appealing for justice, the organization demanded legal action against the two accused persons under the provisions of SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989.
