Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal hands over 50,000 masks to tea workers in Udalguri

TANGLA: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday handed over 50,000 masks to tea garden workers of Udalguri who had already resumed plucking tea leaves by maintaining social distancing norms. The Chief Minister also informed that he had already talked to a good number of Chief Ministers regarding the safety of the Assamese people living in their respective States and said that the State Government had undertaken measures for the safety of all people who had come to Assam before the lockdown period.

“The State Government would like to thank the people of Assam for abiding by the nationwide lockdown rules and contributing a lot in saving the lives of people,” said Chief Minister Sonowal on Saturday here at Udalguri.

The Chief Minister was here to take stock of the situation and expressed his satisfaction after visiting the Sonaigaon quarantine centre. He said that the State Government was taking all steps to end the pandemic in Assam and hoped that the positive response of the people of Assam would surely yield a very positive result.

The Chief Minister also held close meeting with the Udalguri district administration. He was accompanied by State PHE Minister Rihon Daimari who is also in-charge of Udalguri and Baksa districts.
