Central Investigation Department (CID) team begins inquiry into fund misappropriation in the Construction of Athkhelia Naamghar, Golaghat

GOLAGHAT, July 23: A CID team comprising three officials led by Inspector Subharam Morang and Sub-Inspector Bhularam Teron arrived in Golaghat on Moday to examine the documents relating to construction of the building of Athkhelia Naamghar. There is allegation of large-scale corruption amounting to more than Rs 2 crore in the name of construction of the new building of Sri Sri Athkhelia Naamghar.

Talking to the media, CID Inspector Subharam Morang said that documents related to the construction of the building of Athkhelia Naamghar submitted by the PWD building department were being examined. It has been shown in the documents that more than Rs 2 crore was spent to build the naamghar building. The accused persons will be booked if any anomalies are found after examination of the documents.

Golaghat district Congress president Dr. Ajit Baruah, the managing committee president of Athkhelia Naamghar, Ashim Bora, along with eight associates have been accused of misappropriating money meant for construction of the building of Sri Sri Athkhelia. People and various organization also staged democratic protests against the alleged misappropriation of fund and cases were registered at Ghiladhari PS, case numbers 1723/14, 2094/14 and 2095/14 under section 405/420/409/468 against Dr. Ajit Baruah and Ashim Bora along with eight associates.
