JOYSAGAR: “The BJP is run by the capitalists and works for the capitalists. This has been exposed and now the BJP does not dare to face a single voter. It is frightened seeing the unity of the Opposition,” said CPI national executive member and Sivasagar district secretary Kanak Gogoi during his welcome speech at the Gana Chetana Sabha held in Sivasagar on Tuesday.

The CPI Sivasagar district committee organized a Gana Chetana Sabha in Salaguri Natya Mandir under Kalugaon Gaon Panchayat of Sivasagar. CPI district vice president Muhi Baruah presided over the meeting where CPI national assistant secretary Dharma Baruah participated as a guest speaker.

Baruah in his speech sharply criticized the Narendra Modi-led BJP government for its anti-people policies. Yushof Ahmed, a leader of the INTUC, said that the BJP government was involved in corruption and this had been proved by the Rafale deal and the bank scams. The BJP was afraid to confront the voters and hence the government was not in a mood to hold the panchayat polls, he further added. Hundreds of people took part in the Chetana Sabha.
