Congress, BJP, AGP gear up for panchayat polls

DEMOW: With few days left for the panchayat poll, the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) have intensified their campaigning. There are four zila parishads in Thowra- Bokota, Panidehing, Thowra and Palengi - and 20 gaon panchayats. The BJP announced that Pradip Gogoi would contest in Palengi Zila Parishad, Dhurba Jyoti Mout in Bokota, Rupali Mili in Panidehing and Anupam Telenga in Thowra and in the 20 Gaon Panchayats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced their candidates for the posts of gaon panchayat president and anchalik parishad members.

The Congress has also announced candidates for the upcoming panchayat polls- Rupa Gohain will contest in Panidehing Zila Parishad, Mridul Konwar in Palengi, Krishna Koiri in Thowra and Biplop Konwar in Bokota. The Congress has also announced their candidates for posts of gaon panchayat president and anchalik parishad members. Among the four zila parishads in Thowra, AGP’s Guna Gobin Dutta will contest in Thowra zila parishad and Prabin Borgohain in Bokota Zilla Parishad. Only 10 candidates of the AGP will contest for the posts of gaon panchayat president.
