Couple Mowed Down By A Train In Goalpara District
A couple got hit by a fast moving train in Dhanubhanga area of Nagaon district and lost their lives on spot.
GUWAHATI : On the fateful day on Friday, a couple lost their lives after they were mowed down by a train in Goalpara district of Assam. The incident took place in Dhanubhanga area of Goalpara district, when both the husband and wife were going towards a paddy field.
The deceased has been identified as Lalit Mohan Daimary of 70 years old and Rakhiya Daimary of 65 years old. Police officials arrived to the spot as soon as they got the information, and after recovering the body they sent it for a post-mortem. One of the official stated that, "after recovering both the bodies it was sent for the post-mortem. The couple have lost both of their legs in the unfortunate episode".
The people of Dhanubhanga area were in a state of shock when they came across the tragic incident. The deceased couple were residents of Dhanubhanga.
In a similar incident one more couple died after getting hit by a moving train while they were crossing the railway track. The incident took place in Khetri Assam in the month of August. The deceased were identified as Rajwi Paharia and Chandrama Devi. As per the sources, the duo was hit by the Kolong-Kopili Express. The eyewitnesses stated that, the couple was crossing the tracks and got hit by the train together.
On 24th of November, a young boy was hit by a moving train in Chandmari area of Guwahati. According to sources, the train was loaded with goods and the youth got run over by it in the Chandmari railway crossing. The deceased has not been identified yet, however he was around 25 years of age.
Another shocking train accident took place in the month if July in Nagaon district. Three person in a car died on spot, when a speeding train rammed into their vehicle at Puranigudam Bikhoyachuk area of Nagaon district. The train was moving from Guwahati to Silghat. The episode occured in an unnamed railway crossing.
