DEMOW: In areas where active COVID cases have crossed the 100 mark on a particular day, classes from VI to VIII in educational institutions (both government and non-government) will not be held till May 8, 2021, though online classes have to be made available for the students. The order came from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar on April 26.

Additional District Magistrate of Sivasagar, Junumoni Sonowal, in exercise of powers conferred under Sections 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, has decided to close down classes from VI to VIII in educational institutions (both government and non-government) till May 8, 2021 in Sivasagar district. This order will come into force with immediate effect.

In view of the present scenario of COVID-19 pandemic, the step has been taken by the Secondary Education Department, Government of Assam, vide notification No.ASE.01/2020/Pt-V/3 dated: Dispur the 26th April, 2021. The order has authorized the Deputy Commissioners of districts to take the necessary steps in this aspect.
