COVID-19 positivity rate slides across Lakhimpur district

 10,893 cases registered during second wave

LAKHIMPUR: The COVID-19 positivity rate has declined in Lakhimpur district. However, though an alarming number of COVID-19 cases were detected in the district till July 27, only 829 Novel Coronavirus-infected patients were detected during the last 12 days since July 28. However, over 100 patients were detected in the district on July 28 and July 29. A total of 105 and 115 patients respectively were detected in those two days. Since then, the detection of COVID-19 patients in the district has declined to below 100 till day. Only 37 fresh cases were detected in the district on Sunday.

According to the District Health Department, Lakhimpur district registered a total of 10,893 COVID-19 cases during the second wave of the pandemic since April 1 of this year. Of them, as many as 10,244 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine. As on date, there are 546 active cases in the district .

During the second wave, 103 people succumbed to the COVID-19 in the district raising the overall toll tally due to the pandemic to 1,162 including the last year's fatalities.

On the other hand, a total of 4,33409 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 26,810 Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests were conducted in the district till day since April 1. Of them, a total of 10,171 persons tested positive for COVID-19 as per RAT while 722 people were found to be infected with Novel Coronavirus as per RTPCR tests.

Since April 1, COVID-19 tests were administered to 721 flight passengers and 7,589 train passengers across the district.

The positivity rate in the district till Sunday is 2.37 per cent while recovery rate is 94.04 per cent. The mortality rate registered in the district till day is 0.95 per cent.
