NAHARKATIA: The economic crisis in the country is gradually deepening as a result of the 'anti-people' economy of the rich class, allegedly pursued by the BJP government. Unplanned lockdowns by the government in the name of controlling the spread of COVID-19 have further aggravated the state of the economy.

Particularly affected are workers, farmers, small business owners and billions of people involved in the service sector. In such a scenario, instead of giving credit to the common man in the interest of reviving the economy, new burdens have been imposed on them through price hikes and tax hike. Hence the CPI (M) has called for a nationwide protest week from August 20 to August 26 to address the urgent demands for the livelihood of the people. The CPI (M) Dibrugarh district committee staged an intense democratic protest in Jeypore, Naharkatia from Thursday in support of 20 demands.
