CPI protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill

LAKHIMPUR, June 1: Protest programmes against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill continue in Lakhimpur. The district unit of CPI staged mass strike in North Lakhimpur town demanding scrapping of the controversial Bill. The district committee of the party also demanded the disclosure of the Naga Framework Agreement, prices of fuel and other essential commodities be reduced, mitigation of flood and erosion problems, immediate construction of the critical embankments and permanent solution to the NEEPCO created flood.

The mass rally was led by secretary Arup Kalita. A memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister through the DC in support of their demands. The protesters staged dharna in front of the DC office too.
