SILCHAR: Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) has handed over a cheque worth Rs 31,48,500 as first installment to the Cachar administration at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner's office here in Silchar. The amount will be spent towards financial assistance for the construction of 4 maternity wards for COVID positive patients, one at Dwarbond HWC under Dholai Primary Health Center, one at Borjalenga MPHC, one at Bhubaneswarnagar HWC and one at Silcoore HWC in Cachar district. The total cost of the project is Rs 62,97,000. The amount will be spent under CSR scheme for the financial year 2021-22. These are spread out areas across the district and would be developed to be COVID ready. Having a modern infrastructure will also help fight maternal mortality rates by promoting institutional deliveries.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is authorized to support initiatives for improving and promoting infrastructure for benefit of people by upgrading health services.

Expressing joy, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar Keerthi Jalli said, "It gives me immense delight that the Central Ware Housing Corporation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has provided a cheque worth Rs 31,48,500 as first installment to the Cachar administration for making the health infrastructure of the district more robust. We have been actively pursuing on CSR front for external support to spruce up infrastructure in Health and Education. I invite CWC to open its warehouse in Silchar as Barak Valley would benefit from it. District administration will provide full support for the same."

On behalf of CWC, Regional Manager, Binay Charania, District Development Commissioner, Rajib Roy, Circle Officer Silchar, Kumar Gourav Das and Senior planning Officer, Planning & Development Branch, Ruli Daulagupu were present on the occasion.
