Declaration of containment zone in OPD College withdrawn

LAKHIMPUR: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Dr Jeevan B has withdrawn the declaration of OPD College, located at Panigaon, as a containment zone and 1 km periphery as buffer zone by issuing an order vide No. LDC.61/Misc/2018/pt-III/29.

Accordingly, all the restrictions imposed in the college campus and the 1km peripheral area vide order No. LFC.61/Misc/2018/pt-III/28 dated May 26 have also been withdrawn. However, the restrictions imposed in connection with lockdown will remain the same as in other parts of the district.

Notably, the DC-cum- District Magistrate declared the college campus as containment zone and the 1km peripheral area as buffer zone in the wake of the detection of 17 COVID-19 positive cases in the quarantine facility set up in the college. During the period of 14 days after the declaration of containment zone and buffer zone, no COVID-19 positive case from the area was detected till day. Moreover, there was no report of any Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) patient and Influenza-like Illness (ILI) patient from that zone. Therefore, the declaration of the containment zone and buffer zone was withdrawn as per the guidelines issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
