Demise of Xatradhikar Banshi Badan Goswami deeply condoled in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Banshi Badan Goswami, a true follower of Xattriya culture, who was the Xatradhikar of Ahataguri Xatra located at Borbali-Chamua Gaon in Lakhimpur district, breathed his last on Tuesday due to his old-age ailments. He was 88.

The demise of the popular Xatradhikar has cast a pall of grief in the entire area. He was popular among the people as a scholar of Vaishnavite literature, litterateur, astrologer, dramatist-actor, social activist, postmaster of Gosaibari Post Office and a teacher of Kherajkhat High School. Born in 1929 at Ahataguri in Majuli, Banshi Badan Goswami was actively involved with Axam Xahitya Xabha, Asom Satra Mahasabha along with various institutions of the locality.

A good number of articles with his scholastic credit were published in several newspapers and journals of the State. A book authored by him titled Jivan Yojana was published by Ahataguri Xatra in 2015. Various individuals, institutions and organizations of the district expressed deep condolence at the death of the Xatradhikar.
