BONGAIGAON: Being deprived by the administration, people of 50 villages of Chirang have installed 2 electric posts by themselves on Saturday.

The incident is of 50 villages on the north side of Aie river under Sidli Legislative Assembly. Talking to mediapersons, a person said that they were deprived by BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) administration for a long time. "Actually the electric line comes to our village over the Aie river. To pass the electric line, there is need of an electric tower in the middle of the river. Though we appealed to the administration to erect a tower since the formation of BTC, yet it has not been done. The normal size electric post in the river is drowned away by flood every year. And we, the public construct it every year by purchasing new pillar and even, installing it ourselves. This year also the posts were drowned around 15 days ago but yet were not constructed by concerned department. Hence we compelled to construct it ourselves by installing 2 new posts," said a local.

It should be mentioned that Minister Chandan Brahma is MLA of this constituency for the 3rd time. People claimed that no development is occurred in this area during the tenure of BPF (Bodoland People's Front). They said that BPF will be answered for this negligence in the upcoming BTC elections.
