DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh police registered a case against a faculty of Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMC&H) (case No 2150/20 u/s 120(B), 420, 409, and 506) following lodging of an FIR at Gavarupathar Police Station by one Amal Nath.

Nath in his FIR alleged that Registrar of Plastic Surgery Department, Dr Ajanta Hazarika had taken Rs 4 lakh from him on the pretext to offering a job in Indian Railways. According to sources, a women police team, following receipt of FIR, visited Dr Hazarika's residence for inquiry but could not trace her. AMC&H Principal, Prof. SanjibKakoti disclosed before media persons that DrHazarika informed him telephonically on December 5 that she had to leave station to go to Guwahati for an emergency. DrKakoti, however, asked her to fulfill administrative formalities for availing casual leave. The AMC&H Principal, while reacting to the allegation labelled against one of his faculty members, said, "As it is a case of personal nature, the AMC&H will not comment on it."

Superintendent of Police Prateek Vijay Kumar Thube told media persons that the police had taken the FIR seriously and 'all allegations/ clues mentioned in the FIR would be thoroughly investigated'.

Meanwhile, the 4th grade Employees' Association of AMC&H has requested the authority to relieve Dr Ajanta Hazarika from all administrative and financial responsibilities of AMC&H soon.
