HAFLONG: As per section 135 (c) of Representation of People Act, 1951 and in view of General State Assembly Election, 2021 to be held on April 1 for 16-Haflong (ST) LAC (second phase), the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Dima Hasao, Haflong has notified an order prohibiting the possession of any kind of intoxicant by any person or group of persons and total ban on sale of liquor or giving or distribution of spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquor or substances at hotel, restaurants, bars, eating house, taverns or any other place public or private during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours for the conclusion of Poll i.e. from 6.00 pm of 30.3.2021 to 6.00 pm of 1.4.2021.

Further, the day of counting of votes, which is fixed on May 2, is also declared Dry Day till the process of counting of votes is over. All bonded warehouses, IMFL, retail off and on shops, including clubs, hotels and country shops of entire Dima Hasao district will remain closed during the Dry Day.
