Educated unemployed youths motivated by Entrepreneurship Development Programme

MANGALDAI: With a view to encourage, inspire and to motivate the educated unemployed youths to become a successful entrepreneur in the field of their choice, ‘Kendukalai’-a premier non government organization of Udalguri district at Kalaigaon has successfully organized a three-day ‘Entrepreneurship Development Programme’ (EDP) sponsored by the Industries and Commerce department of Government of Assam and District Industries and Commerce Center (DICC) of Udalguri recently. In the programme organized for the first time in the locality was attended as many as 170 probable entrepreneurs from different corners of the district.

Inaugurating the EDP in a function organized at ‘Gandhi Bakori’ at Kalaigaon, social activist Prasanna Kumar Boro expressed his gratitude to the Industries and Commerce department and DICC, Udalguri for organizing the programme in a rural place like Kalaigaon which has helped the unemployed youths as an eye opener providing them the scope for availing detailed information to become a successful entrepreneur.

He also appreciated the spirit of the social organization ‘Kendukalai’ for coming forward to organize it smoothly. Retired Additional Director of Industries and Commerce department Prafulla Kumar Saikia, Lead District Manager Bidhan Chandra Brahma, Branch Manager of UCO Bank, Kalaigaon Bipin Deka, young Agro-Horticulture entrepreneur and State government award recipient Dhruba Jyoti Saikia took part in the first day’s session as guest faculty and interacted with the participants providing them the latest information and scope and possibilities in becoming a successful entrepreneur. Retired Assistant Manager of DICC, Darrang Ratneswar Deka and Assistant Professor of Food Technology of Mangaldai College Himakshi Baisya took part in the second day’s session as the guest faculty.

BTC EM Jagadish Sarkar taking part in the closing day as the guest of honour appealed the participants to form cooperative societies and made an announcement to sanction the required fund for such cooperative societies from the BTC government.

Appreciating the organizers for selecting Kalaigaon as the venue for the three day programme he also hoped that Kalaigaon fame for Aijong rice would be transformed into a hub of agro-horti entrepreneurs. Head of Industrial Extension of IIE, Guwahati Sriparna Barua, lady industrialist Hema Prabha Devi, Coordinator of Ekta Parishad Mriganku Bahak, Veterinary Officer Dr. Bhupen Saharia also encouraged and inspired the participants with valuable suggestions and information.

General Manager of DICC, Udalguri Bidyut Bikash Bhuyan taking part in all the three days offered valuable suggestions and information on the policy of the State government and appealed them to feel free to make communication with the DICC for any assistance. President of ‘Kendukalai’ Bhargab Kumar Das anchored the sessions in all the three days and all the participants were given away certificate of participation.
