Emergent meeting on stock of essential commodities held in Chirang

Kokrajhar: An emergent meeting to take stock of the essential commodities, selection of beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) and distribution of Gratuitous Relief (GR) under SDRF was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday.

The meeting, which was presided over by Gautam Talukdar, Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, as chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), was also attended by Chandan Brahma, Minister, Plains Tribe and Backward Classes and Tourism, Bijni MLA Kamalsing Brahma and BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgayari.

During the meeting, after reviewing the stock position of essential commodities in the district, the Circle Officers of Sidli, Bengtal and Bijni Revenue Circles were asked to identify beneficiaries living in the urban areas who are actually jobless, shelterless, daily wage earners, sweepers, thela/rickshaw pullers, migrant labourers for distribution of GR under SDRF Manual, 2015. In case of rural areas, the Block Development Officers of Sidli and Borobazar Department Blocks were requested to conduct drive for identification of this category of people with the assistance of VCDC chairmen and sitting MLAs and MCLAs. They were asked to submit their prepared lists to the Deputy Commissioner of Chirang by April 3, 2020.

However, in respect of forest dwellers, the Divisional Forest Officer was asked to identify such people and prepare list for submission to the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (C) by April 1, 2020. Further, those Block Department Officers were also asked to prepare list of genuine beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) taking into confidence the local MLAs and MCLAs and to submit the lists through the Project Director, DRDA to the Deputy Commissioner by April 1, 2020.

The meeting also decided to request the Executive Director, IOCL, BGR, Dhaligaon to provide assistance to the district administration in respect of distribution of gratuitous relief to the deserving people.
