BONGAIGAON: First coronavirus, then flood and now erosion. One by one disaster is threatening normal life in Bongaigaon district. This time, villages near the Brahmaputra River are facing the threat of erosion.

A massive area of Totpara, a village under Jogighopa PS of Bongaigaon district, has gone under water. Talking to media persons, villagers said that already a huge area vanished from the map of the village due to erosion. "But the government has not taken any initiative to protect our village. May one day we will become homeless and our village will disappear due to unabated erosion. We are worried about the existence of our village. So we request the administration and our local MP to take initiative to save our village," the villagers said. The villagers have started to save their village by constructing dam. "With our limited resources we will not be able to save it much. Government help is needed," the villagers said.
