Ex-servicemen interaction held at Jorhat Military Station as a part of the Indian Army event

Tezpur: As part of the outreach campaign of the Indian Army during the ‘Year of the Disabled Soldier in the Line of Duty: 2018’, an Ex-Servicemen interaction was organized at Jorhat Military Station for Ex-Servicemen of Golaghat district on Saturday to reach out to the veterans. About 160 ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families attended the function. Maj Gen Harinder Singh, General Officer Commanding, Jorhat Sub Area was the chief guest of the event. A number of senior officers of Army, Zila Sainik Welfare Office and dignitaries of various government agencies and banks were present.

The veterans of all the three services of the Armed forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) belonging to Golaghat district were apprised about the various welfare schemes for veterans initiated by the Central and State governments. Various issues related to regularization of pension and resolution of pension anomalies were explained and grievances addressed by a team of officers from Jorhat Sub Area. Officers of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Golaghat was also present and addressed the ex-Servicemen on the various schemes and welfare initiatives taken by the State Government. The officers of various government agencies also addressed the ex-servicemen and Veer Naris about various schemes and employment opportunities available for ex-servicemen and their families. The representatives of SBI, Jorhat briefed the ex-servicemen about the various special banking facilities and schemes being extended to the ex-servicemen and their families. The focus of interaction with ex-Servicemen (especially disabled veterans) was redressal of their grievances and resolution of pension anomalies. Disabled veterans and Veer Naris also attended the rally. The GOC, Jorhat Sub Area felicitated the disabled soldiers and interacted with them.
