Extra precautions needed during winters for COVID: Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta

Guwahati: With the winter season approaching fast, Assam's Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Saturday appealed to the people of the state to take proper precautions against the COVID-19 that has already killed several lakh people across the globe.

"I appeal the people to take all the precautions as the threat of corona still looms large. Winter is approaching fast, and we have read that the number of cases could surge dramatically in the season," Mahanta told media persons here today. "People should not be lax when it comes to wearing masks. I appeal everyone to come together for a healthier society and that we do not fall sick. That our neighbours, family, and dear ones stay healthy. No one should neglect wearing masks and washing and disinfecting their hands."

Mahanta himself tested positive for the novel coronavirus on August 10. He finally tested negative for the infectious disease on August 31.
