GOLAGHAT, May 18: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Golaghat under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat Gaurav Bothra, convened a meeting on Wednesday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Golaghat for better coordination for early warning and flood forecast. The meeting was attended by SK Gogoi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, DDMA, Golaghat, District Project Officer, DDMA, Golaghat and officials from the police, water resources, BDO Gomariguri, Fire and Emergency Services and Head of Plant of Doyang Hydro Electric Plant (DHEP), NEEPCO along with two officials from DHEP, NEEPCO, Wokha, Nagaland.

The meeting focused mainly upon the early and effective warning regarding rise of water level and release of excess water from the project. Emphasis was given on sharing of information with the district administration and all the stakeholders concerned, and ensuring better coordination among them for forecast, early warning and response during emergency situation.

The district administration as well as NEEPCO Officials shared their important contact details and as discussed in the meeting, awareness and early warning activities would be done in the downstream areas before release of excess water. The Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat said that regular coordination between the DDMA, Golaghat and NEEPCO authority would be maintained and if required, field visit or emergency meetings might be held. The meeting is a part of flood preparedness for effective response and effort to minimize loss of lives and property.
