Flood-relief distributed by Ramkrishna Vivekananda Seva Sangha Lakhimpur zone in Jonai

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur zone of Ramkrishna Vivekananda Seva Sangha distributed flood relief items at various places under Jonai subdivision of Dhemaji district recently. The seven ashramas of the organization under the Lakhimpur zone - Bihpuriya, Laluk, Harmoty, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Chilapathar, and Naharlagun - took active part in the programme.

The organization distributed rice, dal, potato, chira, salt, mustard oil and other allied food and essential items along with clothes to 162 flood-affected families of Rabhakathoni, Sonowal Kathani, Majgaon and Shantipur under the subdivision.

Meanwhile, the Pashim Dhakuakhana Mandal Congress Committee on Monday distributed flood relief items among the people of the severely flood-affected Lesera-Moukhowa area under the Dhakuakhana subdivision. The activists of the political party distributed rice, dal, salt and biscuits among 200 flood-affected families of the area.

A retired Principal of Dhakuakhana subdivision in Lakhimpur district donated one month’s pension amount to the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.

Social activist-cum-academician Dharmeswar Hazarika handed over the cheque of Rs. 31,356 to Lakhimpur ADC-cum-SDO of Dhakuakhana subdivision, Arindam Baruah on Tuesday. He is the permanent resident of Ghilamora and retired as the Principal from Ghilamora HS School. He has been involved in many activities to uplift the down-trodden and expand education and knowledge in the society after his retirement.
