Former Principal of Biswanath College Bhuban Chandra Chutiya passed away

Biswanath Chariali: Former Principal of Biswanath College and eminent educationist, historian and social worker, Bhuban Chandra Chutiya passed away on Monday night at his residence at Madhupur, Biswanath Chariali. He was 94.

Born in 1927 at Bogidol in Sivasagar district, Chutiya completed his education from primary level to graduation in Sivasagar and subsequently pursued postgraduation in History from Gauhati University. He joined Chariali HS and MP School as an Assistant Teacher and later joined Biswanath College as a founder lecturer in 1960 in the Department of History. He retired from the college in 1995 as the Principal.

Chutiya was associated with a good number social organizations. His body was taken to the college on Tuesday and tributes were paid to the departed soul. He leaves behind two daughters, four sons and a host of relatives. His death was widely mourned.
