Four more test Covid-19 positive in Hailakandi; total 114

Guwahati: Four more persons have tested Covid-19 positive in Hailakandi district of Assam on Saturday, taking the tally to 114.

Health authorities here disclosed that four persons namely Jakir Hussain Barbhuiya, 28, Imran Hussain, 19, Shahjahan Ahmed Laskar, 20 and Ranjit Naidu, 28, have all tested positive. While Jakir and Imran with travel history to Mumbai were under facility quarantine centre at Joymangal High School, Shahjahan with travel history to Mumbai was at Royal Guest House quarantine centre while Ranjit with travel history to Chennai at Prashanti Tourist Lodge. They have been shifted to the isolation wards of SK Roy Civil Hospital here.

Two COVID-19 positive patients succumbed to the contagious disease in the district, the recent victim being Mangoli Rani Das, 53, a resident of Bakrihower Part I under Algapur revenue circle, who breathed her last at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Friday morning.

Another COVID-19 positive patient named Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, of Borjurai village under Hailakandi revenue circle died at SMC&H on April 10 last.

Superintendent of SK Roy designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital, Dr. Sudip Chakraborty informed that 48 COVID-19 positive patients are admitted at the isolation wards while 21 are at the Silchar Medical College.

There are currently 71 active cases, which include two deaths. 43 patients on being cured have been discharged from civil hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

Altogether 844 persons are under institutional quarantine while 1,158 under home quarantine as on Friday evening. Of the 3,095 swab samples taken, 2,125 have turned out to be negative. Results of 811 swab samples are awaited.

Meanwhile, the Hailakandi district administration has declared five containment zones to arrest the spread of COVID-19.
