Gandhi Sankalp Yatra Launched in Dhubri District

DHUBRI: Along with the rest of the country and State, Dhubri district unit BJP launched Gandhi Sankalp Yatra to spread the ideals and principles of Gandhiji on Tuesday.

The Gandhi Sankalp Yatra, led by Golokganj local legislator and chairman of Council of Other Backward Communities, Ashwani Roy Sarkar, was taken out from Satrasal village located along the Indo-Bangladesh border of Dhubri district on Tuesday morning.

Thousands of party workers and people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, joined Yatra and walked 17 kilometres visiting village after village and holding meetings on Gandhiji’s dream of India. Roy also distributed cotton bags among the villagers and appealed to them to shun single use plastic and to keep the village clean.

On the first day, a public meeting was organized prior to launching the Yatra, which was presided over by Xatradhikar of Sri Sri Dham Ramraikuti Xatra, Jitendra Nath Pradhani.

A host of district-level leaders, including president of Dhubri district unit BJP, also addressed the meeting and appealed to the people to emulate the ideals and principles of Gandhiji. The Yatra, which will cover the entire Dhubri parliamentary constituency area, in the meantime has covered 31 km area of Golokgang.
