Goalpara district administration focuses on government schemes in remote hamlets

Goalpara: The Goalpara district administration in West Assam has emphasized the implementation of the government schemes related to the Women and Child Development (WCD) in the remote areas and tribal villages

On Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka, in presence of Gautam Mazumdar, ADC, inaugurated the model Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND) at a meeting organized at the remote tribal village Bamundanga Garopara in West Goalpara.

Besides inaugurating the VHSND, Varnali Deka went door to door to take cognizance of the implementation of the schemes related to women and child development in Bamundanga Garopara village.

VHSND is a government initiative to improve access to Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH), nutrition and sanitation services at the village-level in India. It is operated jointly by social welfare and health and family welfare departments.

The same day and at the same venue, a Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) under Krishnai Balijana integrated child development services of the Social Welfare Department was inaugurated. The MSK brings awareness regarding government schemes and empowers rural women through community participation and tries to create an environment in which they realize their full potential.

The Poshan Club in the same meeting demonstrated their self-defense skills. A haat bazaar on this occasion was arranged to guide the rural women to recognize the nutritious food and fruits needed especially before and after childbirth.
