Great Assam School Shake-out Programme Held in Biswanath Chariali

Biswanath Chariali: The District Disaster Management Authority, Biswanath in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Education Department, Fire and Emergency Services and Civil Defence conducted the Great Assam School Shake-out programme covering 100 schools of the entire district on Saturday along with the rest of the State.

Great Assam School programme began with an evacuation drill my students to tackle eventualities in case of fire or earthquake emergencies. The programme was organized to commemorate the 1950 Great Assam Earthquake which remains in the history of Assam as a high-intensity earthquake that caused massive loss of life and property.

The drill was followed by an exhibition at Chariali HS and MP School, Borgang High School and Gohpur Higher Secondary School on display of equipment and emergency preparedness measures jointly organized by DDMA, Biswanath, F and ES, SDRF and Civil Defence to educate the school students on safety messages on earthquake.
