Headmistress Caught stealing rice for midday meal

TINSUKIA: The headmistress of a tea estate ME school was caught red-handed within the school premises while she was stealing rice meant for midday meal.

The incident, that happened at Rupai TE ME School under Hapjan Block in Tinsukia district, created sensation in the locality. According to reports, Deepa Barman, the headmistress of the school, was seen loading bags containing rice in her car with the help of few boys playing nearby. Though she apologized at a public meeting, attended by the Circle Officer of Doomdooma, AATSA office bearers, CRCC coordinators of Daisa and Tipuk and the public, held on Saturday, the public submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia through the Circle Officer of Doomdooma demanding an impartial inquiry besides relieving the headmistress for her alleged immoral act.
