Heroin Worth Over Rs 2 Crore Seized In Guwahati Lodge, One Held
According to information obtained, the heroin was being smuggled into the state from Manipur in an effort to sell it in various locations.
GUWAHATI: The Guwahati municipal police raided a lodge in Dispur on Saturday and found a significant amount of illegal heroin.
In response to specific information, a group of police officers under the command of JCP Pathra Sarathi Mahanta and ADCP Kalyan Pathak raided the Barak lodge and found 22 packets of heroin.
The estimated value of the confiscated heroin is about Rs 2.4 crores, according to the police. For possessing the heroin shipment, one guy, identified as Mohammad Noor, was detained.

Police in Mizoram earlier yesterday discovered a large shipment of illegal heroin valued at over Rs 5 crore. A truck that was stopped for a normal inspection contained the heroin that was found inside.
Police said the shipment of heroin weighed a staggering 1,151 kg and was packed into 89 soap boxes. The heroin that was found is reportedly worth Rs 5.8 crore on the open market.
Prior to that, two people were detained when a vehicle in Assam's Karbi Anglong district was found to be carrying heroin worth about 18 crore, a senior police official reported.
According to sources, the arrests and seizure were carried out by a combined team of Assam Police and CRPF, the officer claimed.
Police Superintendent Sanjib Kumar Saikia of Karbi Anglong stated, "A check-point was set up near Dilai Tiniali based on specific knowledge of attempt at drugs smuggling." Around 10.30 a.m., a pick-up van was halted, and during the inspection, 286 soap cases packed with 3.5 kg of heroin were found. According to him, the worth of the illegal goods is approximately 18 crore.
