Donkamukam: With hardly a week left to go for the 2nd phase of Lokh Sabha polls 2019, national and regional political parties in the hills districts of Assam have intensified wooing the voters. "Longstanding demands, hopes and aspirations of the people of the hills districts of Assam will be fulfilled and I'm hopeful that MP Horen Sing Bey's first Parliamentary speech will be on Autonomous State for hills districts of the State." This was stated by KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang on Friday at a BJP rally at Birsingki, near Umswai, some 45 km from Donkamukam in West Karbi Anglong.

"In the name of Autonomous State, our people suffered the most in past few decades, a few lost their lives in the movement, and in some cases students lost their career. While taking that political opportunity some got elected a couple of times but did nothing for those who lost their lives. It is the present government which has taken steps to assist the families who lost their lives during the movement," the CEM said. People were kept in dark from the main issue and on the contrary hatred was spread by them, he said.

"But such things won't happen now. All sections of the people irrespective of all religion and caste will be safe under BJP," the CEM further added. Regarding the shifting of offices of various departments in Ulukunchi, the CEM KAAC assured that steps will be taken after the election for some of the office stationed at Ulukunchi.

At the meeting, BJP candidate Horen Sing Bey regretted that he was personally attacked by Opposition parties for having many cases which were not solved during his days as an 'extremist leader'. "This is not fair," Horen Sing said. "The more they attack, the more people support me," he said. "In 35 years of MP Birensing Engti stint there is not even 35 MP schemes seen here in the districts," Horensing Bey said.

At the meeting altogether 447 members led by Thomas Amsong and Khasi leader Robert Kharsati from Chinthong and Amri MAC constituencies switched to BJP on Friday.

At the meeting, MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi, EM Prodip Rongpi, MAC DU Maslai, president of BJP's West KA Committee Arun Terang, BJP Minority Cell, Assam State VP leader Elwin Teron and many others were present.
