Illegal timber-laden vehicle seized in Golaghat district | 10 Jun, 2020

GOLAGHAT: The smuggling of timber continues unabated in Golaghat district. On Tuesday, the officials of the Golaghat divisional forest office seized timber logs at Arengapara Chariali when a pick-up van bearing registration number AS01-LC-3454 was coming towards Golaghat town from Karbi Anglong.

According to sources, the vehicle was illegally carrying the timber from Karbi Anglong district without any legal documents. The forest officials seized the vehicle along with the timber. Illegal timber trade is allegedly carried out under the nose of the forest department. The timber smugglers carry the timber from Karbi Anglong district through Murphulani area and in front of the Murphulani Forest Beat Office of Golaghat district.
