Indo-Global Social Service Society meet held in Lakhimpur to provide better service to disaster-affected people

LAKHIMPUR: Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), a non-profit organization, organized an inter-agency group meeting to strengthen partnership between NGOs working in Lakhimpur district and between NGOs and the district administration of Lakhimpur for better coordination, information sharing and learning between humanitarian organizations and the government and reducing duplication with each other to ensure better services to the people affected by disaster and humanitarian crisis. The objective of the event was also to develop guidelines for emergency response in consultation with district administration, humanitarian actors and benefactors for effective response.

The programme held in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Agency (DDMA) at its control room in North Lakhimpur on Saturday, kicked off with the welcome speech by Pinamoni Baruah, IGSSS District Project Co-ordinator. The objective of the programme was explained by Dharani Payeng who also highlighted IGSSS’ works in Lakhimpur district. District Project Officer of DDMA took part in the event as resource person of the open discussion for framing of guidelines for emergency response in Lakhimpur district by representatives of the district administration, NGOs, CBOs and clubs.

The employees and members of DDMA, PAD, IGSSS, Donyi Polo Youth Society, Jyoti Sangam Samiti, WDC, North Lakhimpur unit of Lion’s Club International and Lohitporia Pragati Sangha were present in the programme.
