Is BJP applying Hagrama's formula of flexibility in BTC election?

KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland People's Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary, who had been in power in BTC since the 2005 council election, used to maintain a flexible approach towards all political parties in any election and allied with the stronger party. He used to take political opportunity for the faster development of the backward region. Is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) now using the same formula of Mohilary in the BTC election?

The State BJP has been maintaining a soft approach towards both BPF and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) in BTC and is likely to form council government with the party that will get more numbers.

State BJP president Ranjeet Dass, during his recent visit to Kokrajhar, told media persons that they would field candidates in 25 constituencies and that the party would win in most of the seats. He said there would not be any pre-poll alliance with any party but they would support the party which would have the maximum number of seats. He also said that the understanding between the BJP and the BPF was on track and they would fight the Assembly election together next year. Dass added that the party had put forward the demand for holding BTC election as early as possible.

Clearly, the BJP is playing dual game in BTC. It is not leaving the BPF and at the same time it is trying to come to an understanding with the UPPL. The BJP has assured to wipe out corruption in BTC and establish good governance, besides bringing significant development.
