Jatiya Vidyalayas in Tinsukia stage a sit-in protest against CAA

DOOMDOOMA: In response to the call given by Tinsukia District Jatiya Vidyalaya Co-ordination Committee, all the 44 Jatiya Vidyalayas under it staged a sit-in against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill across the district on Saturday.

According to reports, students, teachers, parents/guardians and members of the Managing Committee of Doomdoom Jatiya Vidyalaya staged a sit-in in front of the school at Rupaisiding for two hours. The programme began with paying tribute to the sacred memories of the five martyrs of the anti-CAA agitation and observance of silent prayers thereafter. The president of the managing committee, Arjun Baruah, assistant secretary Abhijit Khataniar, Principal Surabhi Moran and teachers Ghana Kanta Baruah and Apurba Sarma addressed the gathering and apprised them about the adverse effects of CAA on the language and culture of the indigenous people of Assam.

Rupaisiding Jatiya Vidyalaya also staged a sit-in in front of the Circle Office, Doomdooma Revenue Circle on Saturday. On the other hand, Kordoiguri Sri Aniruddhadev Adarsha Jatiya Vidyalaya and Barhapjan Brahmaputra Jatiya Vidyalaya also held protest meetings in their schools.
