Kampur celebrates Krishna Janmashtami along with rest of the state with 2-days programme

On the pious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, the entire state of Assam can be seen indulged in celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. Right from the Upper to the Lower Assam, every district is seen engulfed in the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. Nagaon too is not an exception in this regard as Kampur celebrated Janmashtami with a grand 2-day programme.

The festivities for Janmashtami celebrations in Kampur started on Friday with prayers being offered by the villagers in several namghars of the area. The celebrations on Saturday witnessed a variety of programmes being arranged by Viswa Hindu Parishad in the central Raas playground of Kampur. A cultural procession was also carried out by the students of Kampur Sankardev Vidya Niketan and other participants. The Krishna dances presented by the participants were another striking attraction of the Janmashtami celebration.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP), Dhekiajuli unit celebrated Sri Krishna Janmashtami on Friday with a day-long programme at the Nagar Nimna Buniadi Vidyalay Dhekiajuli. The day-long programme for celebrating Janmashtami began at 6.30 am on Friday with recitation of Bhagavad Gita. Bipin Chandra Sharma a social worker of Dhekiajuli hoisted the dhwaj. Thereafter artists of Bhanujyoti Sangha and a group of students from Bahagi Borah Jatiya Vidyalaya performed Naam Kirtan which created spiritual atmosphere at the venue. Sri Krishna Costume contest was held with a large number of contestants. In the evening an open session was held for distribution of prizes which was presided over by the president organizing committee Dipen Nath, active activists of VHP northern Assam Kumud Borthakur spoke on the occasion and explained the philosophy of Lord Krishna.

On the other hand, different places of worship in the Dibrugarh town, namely, Shree Sanwariya Temple, New Market, the legendary Radha-Krishan Mandir, Jalan Nagar and the ISKCON Temple, Chowkidinghee were thronged by devotees, and were duly decorated on the occasion. To mark the occasion, religious programmes, including Bhajan Kirtan, were scheduled for Friday evening in the temple premises.
