Khanamukh Regional Unit of AASU holds health camp in Sivasagar

GAURISAGAR: Khanamukh Regional Unit of AASU in Sivasagar district organized a free medical health check-up and eye testing camp at Khanamukh Anchalik Sankardev Kala Krishti Kendra on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district on Tuesday. The camp was inaugurated by Kamakhya Bhattacharyya, Principal of Khanamukh HS School.

Inaugurating the camp, Bhattacharyya said that health was wealth. Addressing the gathering, Dr.Makhan Kalita, SDMO, Gaurisagar Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC), said that more than 10 per cent people (either urban or rural) were not conscious about their health. He also spoke about the shortage of doctors in government hospitals as per the World Health Organization (WHO) ratio. Rajib Dutta, secretary of Gaurisagar Press Club, said that people should give importance to health check-up.

Dwijen Dutta, health educator of Gaurisagar BPHC, dwelt on the significance of pure drinking water for good health and spoke about the precautions to be taken to prevent the outbreak of epidemic in the post-flood situation. A total of 175 patients were checked and provided free medicines in the camp.
