KMSS Demand for Rollback of Price Hike of Essential Commodities

GOLAGHAT: The activists of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) of Golaghat district committee staged sit-in protest near the Deputy Commissioner’s office of Golaghat on Friday protesting against the price hike of essential commodities and LPG products. They raised slogans against the Union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The president and joint secretaries of Golaghat KMSS Puna Saikia and Simanta Kumar Das, Pranjal Duwara respectively said that the price of essential commodities along with petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders were surprisingly increasing day by day since few months. There was no control measures taken by the government to stop the price hike of essential commodities.

The organization demanded to stop the price hike of essential commodities and petroleum products, decrease the excise duty and VAT on petrol diesel, stop the syndicate over food stuff, fruits, eggs etc. and also that the government should take stringent actions against the dishonest businessmen who illegally increase the price. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat.
