Kokrajhar to host National Press Day for journalists fraternity of BTC

KOKRAJHAR: The Information & Public Relations Department, BTC, in association with the BTC Journalists' Association and the Kokrajhar Press Club is going to observe the 'National Press Day-2021' at the Kokrajhar Science College Auditorium Hall with a two-day programme from November 15 with the patronization of BTC. The journalists of four districts will gather on the occasion to celebrate the occasion.

As part of the programme, there will be a get-together of the BTC journalists and an open discussion and also an interaction on November 15 -- which would be inaugurated by BTC EM of Information & Public Relations Department Dr Nilut Swargiary. of Kokrajhar East Lawrence MLA, Islary will deliver a speech on the topic 'Importance of media in transforming good governance and sustainable regional development' while Pradip Brahma, Additional Director of I&PR, Assam will address the gathering on the topic -- 'Challenges of journalists and government initiatives for welfare and security. There will be the annual general meeting of the BTC Journalists' Association in the evening.

On November 16, Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma will grace the celebration of the 'National Press Day' as the chief guest. The CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro; EM of BTC Dr Nilut Swargiary and Maini Mahanta, Chief Editor of Nandini and eminent columnist will deliver a speech on the observation of the 'National Press Day'. Besides, the EMs of BTC Ukhil Mashahary and Arup Kr. Dey, Principal Secretary Shantanu Gotmare, Kokrajhar DC Varnali Deka and ABSU president Dipen Boro will also attend the programme as the 'Invited Guests'.

Sources informed that the I&PR, BTC will felicitate the seniormost journalists -- one each from the BTC districts during the celebration of the 'National Press Day'.
