LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district AASU vehemently condemned the tampering of AASU banner by some ill-tempered youths. These youths edited and tampered the North Lakhimpur regional AASU banner used for staging protest against North Lakhimpur Municipal Board on September 20 with lewd words. They not only tampered and edited the banner, but also made it viral on social media. The people of the district also condemned the misdeeds of the youths unanimously.

Reacting over the issue, Lakhimpur district committee of the AASU stated that the misdeed committed by a section of youths with ill-mentality was liable to be awarded with strict punishment. The organization lodged FIRs against those who shared the tampered and edited banner on social media. Meanwhile, the activists of Lakhimpur AASU caught two accused - Sushil Doley and Rajib Pamegam - from their homes. North Lakhimpur police arrested them and sent them to jail.

The activists of the organization on Wednesday detained five more accused - Asim Chutia, Homen Taid, Rajib Aryan, Ajit Das and Dhruba Swargiari - and handed them over to the police. North Lakhimpur Police arrested them too and sent them to jail. The organization demanded the North Lakhimpur Police to arrest the rest who already shared the tampered and edited banner.
