Lakhimpur all set for Panchayat polls

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur district administration is all set for the smooth conduct of Panchayat polls to be held on December 5 along with the other 16 districts of the State. It was declared by election in charge, ADC Dipankar Das in a press meet held on Friday at the conference hall of the DC office. Election observer ACS Jayanta Kumar Goswami and ACS Samiran Borah also addressed the press conference and appealed the co-operation of Lakhimpur media towards peaceful conduct of the polling by generating democratic value in the minds of the voters.

As per information given in the conference, a total of 724 polling station has been established in North Lakhimpur sub-division. Out of them, 185 polling station are sensitive while 46 are very sensitive. 796 number of presiding officers will be engaged at those polling station on the poll day. Similarly, equal numbers for each designation of first, second, third and fourth polling officers will also be engaged along with 24 numbers of fifth polling officers. Ten per cent officers of each category is kept reserved. All of these officers have been prepared with due training. The third and fourth phase of the training will be completed on November 1and 2. Adequate security measures are also taken to check any kind of untoward incidents and to maintain law and order during the poll day.
