Lakhimpur District Congress Offers Legal Help to Genuine Indian Citizens

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district Congress will extend legal help to the genuine Indian citizens who have been excluded from the final National Register of Citizens published on August 31.

Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC) general secretary Ganga Jyoti Tayegam informed this on Monday through a press communiqué sent to the media. Regarding the issue, LDCC president Dr. Joy Prakash Das said, “There are complaints that a good number of genuine Indian citizens have been excluded from the final NRC. This exclusion cannot be accepted at any cost. LDCC will extend legal help to these citizens.”

On the other hand, the press communiqué stated that a team of LDCC delegates, led by the president, already held discussion with some experienced lawyers on the issue of exclusion of genuine Indian citizens from the final NRC. Then the LDCC decided to help such victims legally in order to include their names in the NRC. Further, LDCC called on several genuine citizens excluded from the NRC and interacted with them regarding the issue, the press communiqué further stated.
