Litterateur Devoraj Sapkota receives the prestigious Madhavdev Award at Sundaridiya Xatra in Barpeta

TANGLA: The prestigious Madhavdev Award was ceremoniously conferred to litterateur Devoraj Sapkota, who is also the president of the Udalguri chapter of Zila Sahitya Sabha, at Sundaridiya Xatra in Barpeta on Monday on the occasion of the 530th Avirbhav Mahotsav of Mahapurush Madhavdev. The award carries a commendation certificate, a phulam japi, a seleng chador and a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Xatradhikar Jagannath Dev Adhikari, Xatradhikar of Sundaridiya Xatra in Barpeta, and Dhireswar Bayan, secretary of Xatra Parichalana Samiti, presented the award to Sapkota in recognition of his contribution to xattriya art and culture by translating the Kirtan Ghosha, Gunmala, borgeets and Bhakti Pradeep by Mahapurush Sankardeva, and the Namghosha by Mahapurush Madhabdeva in Nepali literature.
