Man feared drowned in the Dhaleswari river in Hailakandi

Hailakandi: A person has been feared to have drowned in the Dhaleswari river in Hailakandi town on Friday. The tragic incident occurred in Ward No.4 at Rabindra Sarani near Bhutorghat at around 12.30 pm. Aged around 50, the man has been identified Nirmal Chakraborty, son of Mongol Chakraborty of Hailakandi town Ward No. 4.

Nirmal was collecting waste plastic bottles and cartons by the side of the river when he slipped and fell into the surging water of Dhaleswari river, as reported by the local people of the area. SDRF personnel have started search operation but till the filing of the report his body could not be traced.
