Media and Media-Related Services to remain Operational during Lockdown

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has ensured no disruption or interruption in the functioning of media and media-related services in the district during the lockdown period.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Lakhimpur, Dr. Jeevan B issued an order in pursuance of the government letter No. E.36011/8/2020-BP&L dated March 23 issued by the Government of India regarding operational continuity of print and electronic media in view of the threat of the COVID-19 outbreak. All the TV channels, news agencies, teleport operations, Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG), DTH, HITS, Multi-system operators, Cable TV operators, FM radio and Community Radio Stations have been suggested to take utmost importance to ensure timely and authentic information dissemination.

Services like printing presses and distribution infrastructure of newspaper and magazine, all TV channels and supporting services like teleports and DSNG along with the above mentioned services are allowed to operate during the emergency lockdown period.

Moreover, all operators of such facilities and intermediaries in the chain are permitted to remain operational through the order. The facilities are permitted to be manned by the staff of the service providers along with accredited staff. The movement of vehicles carrying media persons and DSNGs are permitted in the district during the lockdown period.
